Abstract: Prevention of aging is one of the most interesting fields in biomedicine. The first step in developing effective drugs for preventing senescence is knowledge of the biochemical pathways responsible for the cellular senescence process. In this context, it is evident that free radicals play an important role in the senescence process. However, in recent years, It has been proven that sirtuin family enzymes In particular situin 1 (SIRT1) has anti-aging effects. Therefore, resveratrol, a natural compound that has been shown to activate SIRT1, also has antioxidant effects. Resveratrol activates several proteins through activation of sirtuin 1, including peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor coactivator-1α (PGC-1 alpha), the FOXO family of proteins, Akt (protein kinase B), and NFκβ. In this review, We suggest that resveratrol is a potential drug for preventing premature aging and treating many diseases due to its antioxidant properties and sirtuin activation.
