A mechanistic insight into the anticancer potentials of resveratrol: Current perspectives
Abstract
Resveratrol is a widely recognized polyphenolic phytochemical. Found in a variety of plants and fruits, such as peanuts, grapes, and berries, resveratrol is famous for its many health benefits. This phytochemical is well known for its anti-cancer properties. And considerable clinical evidence confirms its potential as a chemotherapy agent. This study focused on evaluating the anticancer properties of resveratrol. and in-depth study of basic molecular mechanisms. It also evaluates the biopharmaceutical properties, toxicology, and clinical use of resveratrol. To determine its suitability for further development as a reliable anticancer agent, data on preclinical and clinical studies were therefore collected from various electronic databases. To date (2018–2023), the results of this study have shown that resveratrol is useful in treating various cancers with different molecular mechanisms, such as inducing oxidative stress. Cytotoxicity Inhibition of cell migration and invasion. Autophagy. Stopping of S phase of the cell cycle. Apoptosis effect Effects against creating new blood vessels and the effect of resisting cell division It does so by regulating various molecular pathways including PI3K/AKT, p38/MAPK/ERK, NGFR-AMPK-mTOR, etc. However, this compound has poor oral bioavailability due to reduced bioavailability. This limitation can be overcome through the application of nanotechnology. Clinical applications have also shown benefit in treating many types of cancer without serious side effects. We recommend further detailed studies to study long-term efficacy, safety, and harm. This may require a larger number of clinical samples to confirm the compound as a reliable drug for treating cancer.
#Note: If you want to find resveratrol to take. It is recommended to choose one that is extracted from 100% natural plants because it will give good results. Most commercially available resveratrol is synthetic. If eaten, it will not be effective because the body absorbs it poorly. and has long-term effects on the liver and kidneys
