Abstract: Hippo/YAP signaling is involved in the tumorigenesis and progression of various cancers. By inhibiting signal transmission Resveratrol therefore has strong anti-tumor and anti-metastatic effects. In the present study We show that resveratrol reduces the expression of YAP target genes. Additionally, our data show that resveratrol reduces breast cancer cell invasion through activation of Lats1 and subsequent inhibition of YAP. We also strikingly show that resveratrol inhibits RhoA, leading to activation of Lats1 and induction of YAP phosphorylation. Additionally, the combination of resveratrol with other agents that inactivate RhoA or YAP showed a stronger inhibition of breast cancer cell invasion compared to standard treatment alone. Overall, These findings suggest a beneficial effect of resveratrol on breast cancer patients by inhibiting the signaling axis. RhoA/Lats1/YAP and later inhibits the invasion of breast cancer cells.
