Despite advances in early diagnosis, effective medicine and improvements in surgery and radiotherapy. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related death. Failure of lung cancer treatment and development of metastatic cancer tumors has been found to be related to cancer stem cells (CSCs), a specific subpopulation of cancer cells with stem cell properties and the potential to form cancer tumors. Recent research points to CSCs as targets for cancer treatment. As a molecular signaling approach, CSC properties have been linked to intracellular stem cell-related signals. And drugs that inhibit such CSC signaling will benefit CSC-driven cancer therapy.

Currently, there are reports of compounds used to eliminate CSCs isolated from plants. and compounds derived from natural products have the potential to be further developed for CSC-based targeted therapy.
