Introduction: The P53 gene represents a key player in inducing apoptosis in cancer. This includes colorectal cancer (CRC), which ranks third in the world in terms of cancer prevalence and mortality statistics. Although the pro-apoptotic effects of resveratrol have been repeatedly demonstrated in colon cancer cells, But its mechanistic pathway is not fully understood. This is because there are conflicting messages in the literature regarding activation or inhibition of Sirt-1 and p53 antagonist proteins.
Discussion: These results demonstrate for the first time that negative reciprocal crosstalk between the p53 and Sirt-1 regulatory loop results in the induction of apoptosis by elevated resveratrol concentrations in colon cancer.
Overall, this highlights the important anticancer potential of resveratrol. and support further research for clinical use.
