Abstract: Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Chemotherapy and radiation are the primary treatments for cancer patients. However, most cancer cells develop resistance to both chemotherapy and radiation after a period of treatment. In addition to these serious side effects It encourages researchers to seek more effective alternatives with fewer side effects. In the past few years Resveratrol, a natural phytoalexin, has received considerable attention because of its broad biological effects. In this brief review We emphasize the role of resveratrol in Prevention and treatment of cancer, with a special emphasis on colon cancer and skin cancer. It also proposes the molecular mechanisms underlying its chemopreventive and therapeutic activities. Finally, we highlight the problems associated with the clinical use of resveratrol and outline ways to attempt to overcome these disadvantages.
